During the recent ForesSAT Meeting hosted at UMD, Dean Ball, Professors Chris Justice, Shunlin Liang and Chengquan Huang met with Tao Guo, Vice President of Beijing PIESAT Information Technology and Nang Meng from EMDO US to discuss cooperation towards enhancing our undergraduate study abroad experience in China and developing a research fellowship program.
Dr. Janet Nackoney, Associate Research Professor in the Department of Geographical Sciences, just returned from Nairobi, Kenya, where she participated in the 27th International Primatological Society (IPS) Congress. The IPS is the only internationally-based society organized exclusively for the scientific study of primates.
Soon, the reach of the graduates of the University of Maryland's Geographic Sciences Department will be extending to the command bridge of this special research vessel as 2013 graduate Lieutenant Dustin Picard joins the crew in Honolulu, Hawaii.

GEOG researcher, Dr. Kuishuang Feng, co-authored with researchers from Princeton and IIASA investigated the environmental impacts of transitioning from coal to natural gas in China, exploring implications on air quality, carbon mitigation, and water stress by 2020.
