Dutta Roy, Abhilash

Bio

Abhilash specializes in forest remote sensing with an interdisciplinary background spanning Mediterranean, arid, tropical evergreen and mangrove forests. His research combines forest ecology and geospatial technology for studying and monitoring biomass, carbon dynamics, vegetation structure and biodiversity across diverse biomes. He uses satellite and airborne remote sensing with ecological modeling and machine learning to support forest inventory and conservation efforts, often centering on the intersections of carbon accounting, anthropogenic impact and sustainable forest management. He has previously served as a research associate at Ecoresolve Inc., where he led research teams working on mangroves and tropical forests. He was also affiliated with the Wildfire Analytics Lab at the University of Alberta and has held a position as a visiting scholar at Qatar University.
