  • Step Into Your Next Role—Start With a Master's Degree In GIS or GEOINT This Fall
A map highlighting Maryland, set against a backdrop of mountains.

An MS GIS degree opened the door to leadership—yours could be next. Don't miss our deadlines!

Jayne Brown, a 2019 MS GIS graduate, never expected her GIS skills would lead her to managing data integration projects at Maryland’s Department of Energy and Environment. “The GIS skills I gained helped me improve workflows and advance my career,” she said.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your career, our Master of Science in Geospatial Information Sciences or a Master of Science in Geospatial Intelligence programs offer two paths to help you meet your goals—hybrid (in-person/online) or 100% online.

As you consider your options, keep in mind that the priority deadline is May 1. We understand that gathering all your materials can take time, so don’t worry—get your application in, and we’ll work with you as letters of reference or other documents come in.

Applying to our Fall 2025 program is more straightforward than you might think.

Here’s how it works:

✅ Step 1: Make Sure You Meet the Basics

You’ll need a bachelor’s degree (from a regionally accredited U.S. school or international equivalent) and a minimum GPA of 3.0. No GRE required. Students come from all kinds of backgrounds—what matters is your interest and readiness to engage.

Note to those new to GIS: You’ll need to meet one GIS prerequisite (a GIS course or relevant field experience) before you start the program. If you haven’t completed that yet, no problem: We offer an online intro GIS course in the summer so you’re ready to go. Just be sure to apply by the May 1 priority deadline.

📅 Step 2: Apply by the Right Deadline

Fall 2025 Application Deadlines (Hybrid or 100% Online)
Priority Deadline: May 1, 2025
Final Deadline: July 2, 2025

🌍 International applicants for the online-only program can follow the same deadlines—no visa required. Need a visa to attend in person? The deadline for Fall 2025 has passed. Already in the U.S. with a valid visa? You can still apply by the deadlines above.
