Professor Kathleen Stewart Begins Term as UCGIS President
University of Maryland to host next national GIS gathering under Stewart’s leadership
Professor Kathleen Stewart has started her term as president of the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) for 2025-26.
Her appointment follows the conclusion of Jeffrey Hammerlinck’s term, which wrapped up during the UCGIS Summer Symposium held June 23 to 27 in Laramie, Wyoming.
Stewart’s presidency marks the beginning of a new chapter for the consortium, which brings together U.S. colleges and universities with geographic information science (GIS) programs. Her term will culminate in the 2026 Summer Symposium, set to take place at the University of Maryland, College Park.
