News and Feature Items Guidelines

Creating Web Content

All members of the Department are encouraged to submit news items on relevant research, teaching, service and professional accomplishments via the Departmental website. You may request that your article be posted to either the news feed or the ‘featured stories’ slide-show.  Catherine Miranda, the Department Outreach Coordinator, will review and edit drafts to ensure consistent style and quality of articles displayed on the website. See our How-To on creating your news article. Below are examples of Featured News items and regular news and event items.

Note: If you have a potential Featured News story, please reach out to Catherine (cmirand2@umd.edu). She will assist in writing the story (as needed) and liaise with BSOS and University communications teams to amplify the story. She will also publicize the news on Department social media accounts.
