Fellowships

Fellowships are merit-based awards that enable the recipient to focus on graduate study, that do not have to be repaid, and that generally include both a stipend and tuition remission. Fellowships differ from Graduate Assistantships, which carry an obligation to teach classes, to work on a research project, or to perform administrative tasks.

The Department has a limited number of fellowships to award, either as half or full fellowships, that range from $10,000 to $20,000. Fellowships are awarded at the time of the offer of admission.

In addition, the Graduate School has a number of fellowships available either for prospective students or doctoral research.
