UMD Ranked #2 Globally in Remote Sensing

The University of Maryland, College Park has been ranked #2 in Remote Sensing out of 100 universities worldwide by the Shanghai Ranking 2022 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. The ranking reflects the high quality of remote sensing research conducted by the Department of Geographical Sciences, UMD's major remote sensing unit.

According to Shanghai Ranking, universities are ranked based on a variety of academic indicators such as research output, research influence, international collaboration, research quality, and international academic awards.

UMD also ranked highly in other fields involving GEOG researchers: Atmospheric Science (10th) and Earth Sciences (22nd).
