Dr. Meredith Gore has been invited to join the inaugural cohort of the University of Maryland's Research Leaders Fellows Program. The program was created to support and accelerate the growth of future leaders at the University. Applicants were nominated for consideration and reviewed for consideration in the inaugural cohort. Eighteen fellows were selected from schools and colleges across campus to participate in this 10-month collaborative program.

“As a new member of the Department of Geographical Sciences, participating in this program will enhance my situational awareness of the UMD research engine, increasing my ability to contribute to it and leverage it for my students and the department.” said Dr. Gore. She has a track record of obtaining extramural funding, conducting field research, publishing in high impact factor journals, teaching courses, and providing legislative science advice on multidisciplinary research focused on conservation crimes—a deviently perverse expression of human dimensions of environmental change that is globally distributed and unfortunately growing in scope and scale.

Starting this month the faculty members will join interactive modules, receive mentorship from campus leaders, and collaborate on novel research projects. The program seeks to foster interdisciplinary approaches to challenges facing the world today, while also advancing their research programs to new levels.
