  • In Light of Paris COP21 Conference This Week, 'Carbon All Around Us' Video Receives In Excess of 150,000 Views

The UN Climate Change Conference, COP21 (Conference of Parties-21), will take place over the next two weeks in Paris, France, despite the recent attacks. As a prelude, NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center released a Youtube video on November 19th entitled, "Carbon All Around Us."  In the video, Dr. George Hurtt, GEOG Professor and Science Lead of NASA's Carbon Monitoring System, briefly explains that carbon dioxide emissions are absorbed by land, and that a more precise knowledge of the carbon cycle will help to reduce uncertainties and support decision-making. The video, which was recently posted to Facebook, has received more than 150,000 hits and that number is still climbing.

On November 12th, NASA also hosted a telecon to discuss the effects of increasing carbon emissions on the Earth's atmosphere and the impact on climate-change.   Dr. Hurtt was one of five panelists.

If you were unable to tune in, a Youtube audio of the telcon can be found here: https://youtu.be/Cco1iTJx9so
