This Giving Tuesday, Help GEOG Do Good
Support urgent needs today and invest in the next generation of geographers.
On this global day of generosity, we invite you to support the Department of Geographical Sciences in two meaningful ways: one providing urgent relief now, the other opening doors for the next generation.
GEOG General Fund: Emergency Relief
Your Giving Tuesday gift can make a difference when it’s needed most.
The Emergency Relief Fund provides immediate support to faculty, researchers and students facing unexpected challenges, from critical research expenses to pressures created by funding gaps. Your contribution keeps important projects moving, helps careers stay on track and ensures our community remains strong in uncertain times.

Young Researchers Fund
Invest in the future of our field.
The Young Researchers Fund cultivates the next generation of geographers and earth scientists. Originally focused on high school outreach, the fund introduces students to geographical sciences and the urgent issues shaping our planet such as climate change, biodiversity, food systems and more. Through hands-on activities and paid internships, students gain exposure to real research environments and discover opportunities they may not have known existed.
This year, the initiative is expanding to include undergraduate research internships that deepen engagement and help promising students build skills, strengthen their academic pathways and participate directly in faculty-led projects.
Your gift helps us:
- Partner with local public schools to identify promising students
- Host immersive activities within our department
- Offer paid internships for students who want to explore university-level research
- Support undergraduate internships that advance student training, mentorship and professional development
Make a gift to the Young Researchers Fund
Whether you’re helping our researchers overcome barriers or empowering young scholars to dream bigger, your generosity makes a real difference.
Thank you for supporting GEOG this Giving Tuesday.
