Message From The Chair

October 2023

It has been a few years since we sent you a newsletter.  With the explosion of social media platforms and a constant flow of information on the internet, newsletters looked like an outdated and definitely “not cool” way of communicating.

But now that most of us are in a near-permanent state of information overload, it is nearly impossible to keep up with all the news all the time.

The Department of Geographical Sciences is an incredibly vibrant community that generates newsworthy announcements every hour.  Even I cannot keep up with that – and I am very interested to hear about our success stories.

That is where newsletters come in handy: we will highlight our biggest achievements, focus on different parts of the Department’s life, and allow you to read more about those (if you choose to, of course).  We do amazing things that make the world a better place, and we would love to tell you about those.

Whether you are currently a member of the Department, a prospective or current student, an alum, a former faculty member, a colleague, or a friend of the department – you are an integral part of the GeoTerp ecosystem.  I hope you enjoy reconnecting to GEOG roots in whatever mode you like best. The Geograffiti is here to give you a recap before the new season of exciting adventures in geographical sciences begins.
