This Summer 2018, the Center for GIS is offering:
GEOG 198A: Introduction to GIS in the Era of Big Data (1 credit: course schedule is here; register at OES)
This 1-credit online course serves as an introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) that are used to gather, analyze, and present geospatial information in the era of big data. This course is designed for students and faculty who are interested in learning GIS as a tool to process and analyze data that has spatial information. Topics include the basics of geospatial data; fundamentals of big data; locational reference systems; the Global Positioning System; data analysis, interpretation, and visualization methods.
