Alumni Reconnect with Department of Geographical Sciences
On Dec. 10, the Department of Geographical Sciences welcomed three alumni during their visit to the AGU conference in Washington, D.C.
The visit, hosted and organized by the International Geo Center and coordinated by Executive Director Mengxue Li, provided an opportunity for the alumni to reconnect with the department and learn about recent developments. GEOG Interim Chair Chris Justice, joined by other colleagues, also welcomed them back.
Alumni Tao He (Ph.D. ‘12) and Wenli Huang (Ph.D. ‘15) from Wuhan University, along with Danxia Song (Ph.D. ‘17) from Central China Normal University, were warmly greeted during their informal meeting at River Road.
The meeting featured a tour of the new building, engaging discussions on their professional journeys and achievements since leaving the department and insights into the future of geographic research.
The visit underscored the importance of maintaining strong connections with alumni and fostering collaboration between past and present department members. This visit also highlighted the vibrant network of the department’s alumni and their continued engagement with our academic community.
We look forward to more opportunities to connect with our alumni and celebrate their achievements on both the national and international stage.
