Murphy, Emilie

Bio

Emilie Murphy is a Senior Faculty Specialist. She started her career as a Research Assistant at the Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l’Environment, located on “Plateau de Saclay” (called the “European Silicon Valley” according to Wikipedia) in the suburb of Paris, France, where she worked on Climate Change and Vegetation Cycle science projects using the satellite instruments data of PARASOL-POLDER, AVHRR and MODIS.

In 2009, she had the opportunity to join the Department of Geographical Sciences with the team of Professor Eric Vermote to pursue her research working on AVHRR and MODIS satellite data processing. This supported some technical scientific projects for calibration, validation of satellites products and atmospheric corrections.

After over fifteen years of experience, Emilie still enjoys her research with the SALSA Team, working on data analysis that greatly contribute to a multitude of scientific projects and associated instruments, mainly for NASA with her team leader Professor Eric Vermote.

She has recently extended her research skills and knowledge working on crop yield forecasting model (ARYA) with the leadership of her team colleague, Natacha Kalecinski, Assistant Research Professor at the Department of Geographical Sciences.
