Talk Kicks Off Discussion Platform: Science for Recovery and Sustainability
Researchers and students are invited to the inaugural event of a new international collaboration, Discussion Platform: Science for Recovery and Sustainability.
The event will feature Garik Gutman, program manager of NASA’s Land-Cover and Land-Use Change (LCLUC) Program, presenting on "Overview of Multispectral Satellite Missions for Monitoring Land Cover and Land Use" on Friday, Jan. 31, at 9 a.m. EST [4 p.m. GMT+2].
The new platform, led by the University of Maryland, the NTUU “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and Ukraine's Space Research Institute NASU, brings together leading institutions from the United States and Ukraine. Supported by NASA and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, it aims to address critical issues such as post-war recovery, resource management, climate adaptation and sustainable development.
Gutman's talk will explore urbanization, forests, agriculture and NASA’s future Earth remote sensing satellite missions. This event is designed for researchers interested in leveraging NASA data, tools and international collaborations for land cover research and future satellite missions, as well as students and young professionals eager to explore space technology and its real-world applications.
Key platform partners also include NASA Harvest and the Ukrainian Scientific IT Society.
