STEM to the Sky Hosts Virtual Environmental Science Panel with Top Experts, Featuring Dr. Tatiana Loboda and More
STEM to the Sky, a student-led 50, nonprofit organization, is celebrating Earth Month by hosting a virtual speaker panel with leaders in the field of environmental science," featuring Dr. Tatiana Loboda, GEOG professor and chair.
The discussion "Making an Impact: Sustainability Careers that Change the World” will take place at 9 a.m. EDT on April 29. RSVP is required to receive the Zoom link.
This virtual event provides an opportunity for high school students interested in environmental science to learn from experts and gain insight into the industry.
Dr. Loboda will talk about the challenges and opportunities that come with pursuing a career in environmental sciences. Her research specializes in the impacts of wildfire on ecosystems and climate, conservation policies, and forecasting malaria outbreaks using satellite observations. She is also an investigator on numerous NASA projects.
Dr. Loboda will be joined by Dr. Cinda Scott, marine biologist and director of The School for Field Studies' Center for Tropical Island Biodiversity Studies in Panama; and Dr. Anand Gnanadesikan, chair of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Johns Hopkins University.
The panelists will share their experiences and provide advice to students aspiring to work in environmental sciences. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session, where the audience can ask questions and learn about what it takes to thrive and make a difference in the environmental science field.
