Registration Open for UCGIS 2026 Symposium at UMD

The four-day event will bring together researchers, students and industry leaders to explore the future of GeoAI and the theme “AI Everywhere!”

The University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) will host its 2026 Symposium at the University of Maryland in College Park from June 15–18.

Centered on the theme AI Everywhere!, the symposium will explore the opportunities and challenges artificial intelligence presents for geospatial research, education and practice as the field of GeoAI continues to grow.

The event will feature workshops, plenary sessions, student presentations, panels, networking events and field trips, including visits to the Maryland Robotics Center and the Center for Advanced Transportation Technology Laboratory (CATT Lab).

Featured speakers include Marge Cole, strategic initiatives director at Lunate AI, and Yiqun Xie, assistant professor in the department, along with panels on AI in geospatial education, federal agencies and human-centered GeoAI.
