Maryland 2050: Design the Future You Want to Live In
What do you want Maryland to look like in 2050?
Join us for a hands-on GIS mapping activity, as part of Henson Week 2026, where you’ll imagine and map the future you want to live in.
No GIS experience is required, and everyone is welcome. Working individually or in groups, participants will explore a future challenge or opportunity for Maryland and use GIS to visualize their ideas.
The maps created during the session will come together to form a collaborative Maryland 2050 map. The final map will be professionally designed, displayed in the department and featured on the GEOG website. Participants will have the opportunity to have their names included on the final map and use the project as a portfolio or resume item!
Registration: Please register by Monday, Sept. 14 so we can plan for food and supplies. Registration is encouraged, but not required. You’re welcome to drop in even if you haven’t registered.
Snacks will be provided, and participants will receive GEOG swag while supplies last.
