GEOG Seminar 9/2: Planet's Constellations of Satellites and Science Applications, Dr. Tanya Harrison (Planet)
Dr. Tanya Harrison from Planet will give the first GEOG seminar talk of the Fall 2021 semester on Planet's Constellations of Satellites and Science Applications.
Abstract: Planet operates the largest fleet of Earth observation satellites currently orbiting our homeworld, capturing near-daily coverage of its entire landmass at 3–5 meter resolution. These 180+ "Dove" satellites, combined with the power of high resolution tasked imagery from 21 SkySat satellites, open up new doors for scientific research. Dr. Tanya Harrison, Planet's Director of Science Strategy, will give an overview of the satellites and highlight some of the novel research applications enabled by their imagery. She will also discuss Planet's data access pathways for UMD students, faculty, and staff.
