GEOG Seminar 2/8: Diana Ivanova, "Where Health and Environment Intersect: Insights From Input Output Studies"

About the Speaker:

Diana Ivanova is a Research Fellow at the Sustainability Research Institute, School of Earth and Environment, University of Leeds. Her research primarily centers on the environmental impacts associated with consumption, with a specific focus on energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The overarching goal of her work is to align consumption patterns with planetary boundaries while ensuring the adequate satisfaction of human needs. Additionally, Diana is leading a project funded by the European Commission on The Potential for Sharing Resources for mitigating carbon emissions and other environmental impacts (ShaRe). She works on understanding of how consumption-based emissions and environmental impacts are intricately linked to broader socio-cultural and economic trends.

About the Seminar:

This presentation from Dr. Diana Ivanova will capture research on fuel poverty, energy use, carbon footprints, health and disability, which spans across several recent publications. This research is enabled through the combination of multiregional input output analysis and household surveys. The work presents insights from the UK and Europe, but attendees may reflect together on implications for the United States. Other topics include the effects on inequalities, need satisfaction and the net zero transition.
