Changing Geographies of Africa: Art, Identity, and Place, a BSOS Community Forum

Join students in GEOG442: Changing Geographies of Sub-Saharan Africa, along with colleagues from BSOS, the campus and the greater community, for a lecture on modern African design, global artisan partnerships and placemaking.

This BSOS Community Forum features an engaging discussion on spatial inequality, cultural geography and ethical trade in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Guest speaker Nasozi Kakembo, in conversation with Dean Susan Rivera and Assistant Professor Catherine Nakalembe, will share insights on modern African design, global artisan partnerships and placemaking.

Co-hosted by GEOG 422/788 students, with a spoken-word introduction by faculty specialist Monica Adjei, the forum invites the broader college community to explore the intersection of geographic theory and real-world ethical development.

A reception will follow the program in the second-floor concourse of the Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center.
