Ph.D. Candidate Rachel Lamb was invited by Vice President for Research, Laurie E. Locascio, to serve on the university's Research Council for the 2019-2020 academic year. Rachel is a fourth year graduate student and has participated in a number of service roles for the university throughout her Ph.D. career, including as the Vice President of Government Affairs on the Graduate Student Government.
The university's Research Council is charged to "to formulate and continually review policies regarding research, its funding, its relation to graduate and undergraduate academic degree programs, and its service to the community." The council consists of faculty members and students from the University of Maryland community, and is chaired by GEOG Professor George Hurtt.
