Dr. George Hurtt, Dr. Carlos Silva, and Ph.D. Candidate Rachel Lamb were awarded a 1-year grant through the US Climate Alliance Grant Program for Natural and Working Lands Research. The project, entitled "High Resolution Annual Forest Carbon Monitoring Utilizing Remote Sensing," is in collaboration with the World Resources Institute, Maryland's Department of Natural Resources, and Delaware's Division of Energy and Climate. This project will help the states of Maryland and Delaware meet the USCA NWL Challenge by improving annual greenhouse gas inventories, identifying areas undergoing forest loss to prioritize state conservation and restoration dollars, and increasing certainty in forest carbon sink.
