Michael is a Master's student pursuing an MS in Geographical Sciences under advisor Dr. George Hurtt. As a Spring 2023 graduate of UMD's Environmental Science and Policy department, he is still active within ENSP as a graduate teaching assistant for the ENSP 101 and 102 introductory courses. 

He interned under Dr. Hurtt with the Campus Forest Carbon Project from 2022 to 2023, investigating forest carbon dynamics within UMD-owned lands. In summer 2023, Michael served as a data fusion intern under Dr. Liz Hoy for NASA's Arctic-Boreal Vulnerability Experiment.

Research interests include forest diversity, remote sensing, dietary diversity, and urban agriculture.
