Associate Research Professor
Dr. Pierre Guillevic is a Physicist in the Department of Geographical Sciences at the University of Maryland. His scientific interest is to improve our understanding of Earth surface properties, ecosystem and hydrological processes. Pierre is an expert in thermal infrared radiometry. His research is focused on the retrieval of Earth surface biophysical properties (land surface temperature and vegetation characteristics) and surface water and energy balance information (evapotranspiration and water stress) from satellite and airborne observations for environmental study applications. Pierre is involved in the Group on Earth Observations Global Agricultural Monitoring (GEOGLAM) Initiative and develops remote sensing based indices to detect environmental stresses. He is also working on the development of surface temperature long-term Climate Data Records. He is a member of the EarthTemp international initiative on Earth surface temperature and he is a steering lead for the European Space Agency GlobTemperature Network.
